Antonio Romero

Antonio Romero is a Spanish percussionist who has developed a deep understanding in, and mastery of percussion. He was co-founder and drummer of one of the most influential groups to appear on the Spanish pop-rock scene at the end of the 90s, El Hombre Burbuja.

Inspired by the music of the Middle East, he has spent a prolonged period in Istanbul, studying its music in depth, subsequently completing his professional studies in percussion at the Royal Conservatory Manuel de Falla (Spain). His main musical influences come from the music of the Middle East, Spain (especially flamenco), Indian music and rock.

His collaborations include recordings and live performances with Laura Marling & the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Boris Grebenshchikov, El Barrio, Hamza Namira, Matoula Zamani, Sarah Jane Morris, Antonio Forcione, Benjamin Ezcoriza (Radio Tarifa), India Martinez, Faia Younan, Lanja Ali, Cigdem Aslan, Los Delinquentes, La Banda Morisca, Agustin Carbonell “El Bola”, Eduardo Niebla, Pepe Justicia, & Julio de la Rosa among many others.

Antonio has frequently appeared at festivals and major venues throughout Europe and beyond; he has recorded more than 20 albums, many movie soundtracks, as well as music for TV series’ and advertising.

At present he resides in London with his family, faithful to his Mediterranean roots, and to the groove and beauty of music.
